Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

Guatemala’s landscape is dominated by the volcanoes that make up the Pacific Coast Ring of Fire - a pattern of intense volcanic activity that wraps around the earth.
Today, on our way to Antigua, we saw two. Volcán de Agua - an extinct one visible all the way from the port to the city of Antigua, and an active Volcán de Fuego.

After about 90 min. drive we arrived in Antigua.

Antigua is a small city located in the southern part of Guatemala, surrounded by tall and majestic volcanos. This UNESCO World Heritage site is captivating with its unique well-preserved Spanish influenced architecture, cobblestone streets and colorful facades.

We enjoyed the day in this picturesque city, followed by the authentic  Guatemalan lunch, life music, and visit in the Jade museum.

We were lucky enough to even meet the president of Guatemala - Bernardo Arévalo, who happen to be visitng the same place at the same time as we did!

Fun fact: Almost half of the population in Guatemala is indigenous descendant from the Maya civilization.
