Newcastle, Australia

We arrived with no expectations.
We had been told there is nothing to do in Newcastle, that it is a boring place known for being an industrial centre of Australia, famous for its coal mining, steel and copper manufacturing.

We had an excursion that took us to the most popular landmarks in the city.

Firsts we stopped at the Newcastle Museum, which features several exhibits detailing the industrial history of Newcastle.

Next we went to the Blackbutt Reserve to see the koalas,  kangaroos and emus as well as many other native Australian species.

Newcastle’s best attraction is  Fort Scratchley - a historical site situated at the top of Flagstaff Hill that offers 360-degree views of Newcastle. Short walk to Nobbys Beach and Nobbys Lighthouse situated on Nobbys Headland.

After a long stroll along the shore taking in the amazing views, we went downtown to catch the bus and returned to the ship.
