Beginning of my Ultimate World Cruise

Welcome to my journey around the world, an exciting adventure across all seven continents through Royal Caribbeans Ultimate World Cruise program.

My name is Kasia Madej (or Katarzyna Madej), I am originally from Poland and immigrated with my wonderful husband to the United States over 20 years ago. Never would I have never imagined blogging my life on my own website, as I never even owned a computer until my thirties. I especially would have never believed that I would write it in a foreign language. As a matter of fact English is not my first, nor my second, not even my third language I learned all by myself. Of course my primary language is Polish, but when I was a child I learned Russian at school, as it was mandatory. After I turned 18, I move to the Netherlands with my now husband, which was especially intimidating as I this was my first time traveling internationally. Over the next few years learning I spent much of my time learning the Dutch language and became quite proficient to the point where I could work in a Dutch law firm. However, once I became settled and accustomed to Dutch culture, I unexpectedly moved to the United States where I again had to learn a new language. Learning along side my children, English became my fourth language. As of December 2020, I am proud to say I am an American Citizen!

Why am I blogging?

Until now I didn’t feel the need to archive any of my stories and travels. Life is a journey itself, and everyone has their own. The few photos I have taken have been lost over the many times I have moved.

However, in the latest tragic event in my life, all my personal possessions burned down to ashes in a house fire that I escaped by a fluke of good luck, and God’s grace. This tragedy made me realize that nothing is permanent, nothing lasts forever. Before digital cameras, smart phones and internet, every picture was taken old fashioned way, the films were developed, and from very the few good pictures that I saved all of them are gone now. All burned and lost forever. The turn of recent events made me decide to store pictures on my own servers, so this will never happen again. I want to document and share my upcoming trip of a life time around the world, so that I no longer have to carry around large books of my memories and also be able to look back at all the important memories I made.

While this blog will primarily focus on the Ultimate World Cruise, I will also be documenting any of my future trips once the cruise comes to an end. I assure you that although this will be an exciting journey, it will most definitely not be my last!

Next steps for my journey

I want to welcome everyone visiting my website, and thank you for taking the time to read my future adventures! Although I am writing these for my own fulfillment, I am thank for every viewer as it encourages me to put the effort into each post. In the future, my website will have more interactivity such as likes and comments so you can let me know what you think of my journeys.

I especially want to thank the very talented website designer - and my oldest son - Gabriel Madej, for developing this website for me - a tool that will make it possible for me to share my journey with my family, friends, and anyone else who is interested.

In just about one month I will leave on a trip of a lifetime. I’m so freaking excited, I want to jump from joy!

I will be sure to go over what exactly the Ultimate World Cruise entails, including the schedule, destinations, and other events in my future posts. Make sure to stay up to date in case you are curious!

I can’t believe I will be a part of this amazing journey. I’m so looking forward to visit all these amazing places, try local delicacies, experience the culture, traditions, cuisine, make new friends and immerse in the whole experience.

Thanks again!
