Day 22
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

I woke up to the spectacular view from our balcony window.
It was a warm, very cloudy and foggy morning.
Very excited I quickly got dressed and ran on the top deck to enjoy the view. I was so excited that even though it started drizzling I was standing there with my coffee taking pictures from all sides and angles of the ship.
We had to meet first in the theater at 9:30 and then the whole group left the ship around 10am.
We took the comfy bus and we hit the road. Our first stop Christ the Redeemer.
It took is about 45 min. to get there. Then we had to wait for a tram to take us up the hill. Hike would take approximately 2.5-3 hours one way and we didn’t have the time. Need to be back on ship 5:30pm.
The park was very busy. Long line to get on the train, tons of people on the top. Hard to take a picture without fighting for space. The visibility wasn’t the best either. Very hazy and cloudy. When we were on the top they started preparing for the mass. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay any longer. We had very limited time and the tour guide was already waiting for us to drive down the hill. From there we went to one of the most popular Churrascaria in Rio de Janeiro for amazing Brazilian rodizio. It was divine experience. We had spectacular view on the Sugarloaf mountain. The hand-crafted Caipirinhas, all you can eat steak, salad bar, cheese bread, all were to die for. We left so full, we weren’t hungry for special New Year’s Eve dinner that was prepared for us on the ship.
Back in port we had about 30 min. to walk around and take few more pictures. Once person from our group didn’t make in time for the bus that took us to lunch, and brought us back to the ship. There is always that one person…
We skipped our dinner time. We arrived past the time anyways.
In the evening we had lots of entertainment on board, live music, DJ, balloon drop and unlimited champagne. The main attraction that everyone was waiting for, were fireworks on Copacabana Beach we watched from the top decks of the ship. Spectacular show. I was very excited and happy to be able to be there and experience it first hand. Unreal! I’m in Rio de Janeiro! For the New Year!
Happy New Year everyone! 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣

Fun fact: Rio de Janeiro means River of January
