Day 41

We were supposed to visit Punta Arenas today but the captain announced first thing in the morning that the port is completely closed for traffic. With 45 knots winds we wouldn’t be able to get off the ship at all.
This was supposed to be tendered port for us. That’s the third tender port that was canceled because of the weather conditions.
We are now sailing through Magellan Fjord system- very scenic water way.

The Patagonian Fjords are a once-in-a-lifetime experience far from civilization and one of the few places one can see icebergs. Everyone heard of the Alaskan or Norwegian fjords, but the ones in Chile are equally if not even more impressive.

Today we saw several different glaciers.
Without a doubt, the Chilean Fjords count as some of nature's greatest wonders.
We were either on the balcony in our room, or on the top deck taking the pictures and videos for hours. Observing breathtaking scenery
made up of a mosaic of forests, glaciers, fjords, valleys and mountain ranges. All I can say - SPECTACULAR!

Fun fact: Located on the Strait of Magellan, Chile's port city, Punta Arenas was once one of the most important supply stops for mariners, until the Panama Canal opened in 1914.

Cape Froward is the southernmost point of mainland South America. It is located in the Magallanes Region of Chile, along the north shore of Magellan Strait, being the southern tip of the Brunswick Peninsula

A large metallic cross - Cross of the Seas was built on the cape's hill in honor of Pope John Paul II's visit to Chile in 1987.

We passed it today around 6pm. It’s was very hazy, cloudy and sun was setting so the pictures didn’t come out too good.
