Day 32

Day at Sea

It’s been exactly one month into our world cruise. I can’t believe how fast the time passes.

This morning the captain announced that tomorrow we will feel the whole force of Drake’s passage and asked us to secure all items in our staterooms. We passed latitude 40 south and entered the area known as the “roaring 40’s”.  The winds have already picked up, the waves are much stronger, the upper decks are closed off, the pools are emptied, the lounge chairs have been tied down, no activities allowed outside, the temperature has dropped from high 70s yesterday in Puerto Madryn to 40s  today.

This morning we had a Top Tier event and guests were not allowed on stage because of the rough seas. The prizes were handed out and photos were taken place off stage. The cruise director joked that  the staff has insurance but we don’t so guests were not allowed to walk up the stage.

All the venues are full today. We wanted to see a film but the movie theater was completely full. Same for Top Tier event - I have never seen it so full.

For the first time ever I had to apply motion sickness patches -TWO of them - because I was so sick that I couldn’t see straight 🤢

In the afternoon the captain announced that they spotted humpback whale swimming on the side of the ship, but it went into hiding when everyone ran to the available windows to take a picture 😂 so we didn’t see but it was there! 🐋
I saw a pod of dolphins playing and swimming along the ship for long while while on a treadmill in the gym, in the early morning 🐬🐬🐬
