Bay of Islands, Urupukapuka Island, the birth place of New Zealand. This is where the Maori and colonists famously signed the Treaty of Waitangi.
The area is rich in heritage and nature, and consists of 144 protected islands.
We had a short day to see one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
We arrived early in the morning and took a tender boat to the shore.
We got on a bus ride to Kerikeri, Rainbow Falls. Makana Chocolate factory for chocolate tasting, view of Stone Store, Hundertwasser Toilets, a guided tour of the Kawiti Glow Worm Cave and Puketi forest.
On the way back to the ship we had to wait in huge line to get on a tender boat. Due to strong winds and rough sea, tender boats had a delay.
The Tasman sea has a reputation for being unpredictable and rough, and the following 24 hours the ship has been rocking and rolling quite a bit 🤢
Tonight we are celebrating our journey down under to Australia with a balloon drop, live music and more fun!
Interesting fact about New Zealand:
Aotearoa is New Zealand's Maori name, meaning the land of the long white cloud.
